About us

Cuomo and Son’s Italian Delicatessen and Catering Established in 1951 by the Cuomo family who had immigrated from the Campania region near Napoli, Italy. Members of the family still live on Broadway in North Bergen near the original store. It has been a well- known establishment for decades fondly remembered by long- time residents from the Woodcliff section of the Township of North Bergen a stone’s throw from New York City it is conveniently located across the river from Manhattan. Cuomo’s was originally a Salumeria known for cured Italian imported meats cheeses, fresh bread, and of course delicious sandwiches. When the founding family retired in the 1990’s the deli changed hands a few times before its current ownership Antonio (Anthony) Ventricelli, his wife Giovanna Lo-Morno- Ventricelli took over in 2001. The Ventricelli’s immigrated from Altamuro a town near Bari, Italy they have two sons Giuseppe and Fillipo. They are keeping the family tradition alive. Cuomo’s and Sons’ Delicatessen is approaching 75 Years in continuous business! Under the Ventricelli ownership the establishment has thrived! They chose to keep the Cuomo name and it is living up to its long- established excellent reputation of yesteryear even adding to its excellence. Today Cuomo offers the traditional fresh bread, homemade mozzarella, delicious sandwiches named for various Italian cities and much more: Giovanna, Anthony and staff prepare homemade soups, salads (including seafood salads) pastas (including classic lasagna, ravioli, manicotti and more), roasted meats, classic meatballs, sausage & peppers, and a variety of fresh fish, prepared daily. Cuomo’s also offers authentic delicious Spanish (Latino) cuisine enjoyed by the local population. Anthony and Giovanna know one thing is for sure regardless of their customer’s ethnic background; everyone loves Italian food! To top it off they offer various Italian desserts, cappuccino, and espresso coffee. The Ventricelli’s are active in the community too! You will find Anthony manning the grill at the annual North Bergen Green Health Fair held at the Township Rec Center, and the yearly Columbus Carnival held each year in nearby Braddock Park. Perhaps most impressive is Cuomo’s Gourmet Catering of Italian, Mediterranean, and Spanish delicacies along with their worldclass signature deli meats and salads elegantly presented for any occasion.
